Red Bull will enter two of its junior program drivers in the FIA's new Formula 2 Championship next season.

Robert Wickens, former champion of Formula BMW Americas, who has been a Red Bull Junior since 2006, has been confirmed as the first of the two. The 19-year-old Canadian has won races in A1GP, Formula Renault 3.5 and the F3 Euro Series in the last year and hopes that F2 will help him on his way to Formula 1.

"For me, the decision to be in F2 is a no-brainer," he said. "The design of the cars and calibre of the prize means it will be one of the most competitive series around.

"It's also hard to see any other series competing with F2 at the moment in terms of price, so it's a great move for me in all senses. I would love to follow Jacques Villeneuve and be the next Canadian in F1, and hopefully I can achieve that through success in F2."

Tobias Hegewald, Armaan Ebrahim and Jason Moore have also confirmed their entries to F2 next season, and the final calendar for 2009 has been approved by the FIA.
