A massive airborne shunt involving 56-year-old Piergiuseppe Perazzini in the No. 81 AF Corse Ferrari F458 and the No. 8 Toyota TS030 Hybrid driven by Anthony Davidson resulted in the Ferrari upside down and the Toyota in tatters.

Perazzini turned in on Davidson on the wickedly fast approach to Mulsanne Corner, causing the Toyota to ricochet, rotate and then take off, executing a series of twisting flips before touching down and slamming into the tire barrier. Both drivers emerged from their cars on their own power, but it looks like one of the two cars with a chance of taking the fight to Audi has been damaged beyond repair.
