GP2 could become F1's official 'Junior Series,' with Formula One teams allied formally to junior outfits in the feeder category.

According to Italy's 422race.com, the final places on the GP2 grid will be filled for 2011 by 'Formula One Junior Teams,' giving F1 test drivers the opportunity to work directly with F1 squads and also race at many Grand Prix circuits.

There are apparently four candidates for the GP2 team places, including a Lotus junior team, Manor (known in F1 as Virgin Racing), Mucke (with links to Mercedes) and Carlin.

Currently in GP2, Renault's F1 test drivers race in GP2 in Renault colors with the DAMS team.
