F1: Davidson Angry About Blocking Penalty

Anthony Davidson insists that he didn't deserve the drive through penalty that spoiled the Super Aguri driver's race in Monaco.

The Briton received the penalty for not letting third-placed Felipe Massa through quickly enough, although he insists that the Ferrari driver was not running any quicker than him at the time.

Davidson took his scheduled stop immediately after the penalty, and eventually finished 18th at the end of a train of cars that included Ralf Schumacher, Jarno Trulli and Takuma Sato.

"It's been a hard enough weekend as it is for all us drivers," he told SPEEDtv.com. "I think I'm an intelligent racer, and I know when I'm holding someone up. And I clearly wasn't, because when he overtook me I caught him back on. So the guy was not faster than me, and I wasn't holding him up.

"They made an example of me, because I'm a new boy I guess, and it was a Ferrari that I was holding up. I'm really, really pissed off about it. A lot of people cheated at the start by driving through the pit exit [i.e. cutting Ste Devote], and I didn't. I ended up damaging my nose on Kovalainen doing it the right way. It was neither of our faults, it just bottlenecked up. And then you go and get a penalty like that."

Both Super Aguri drivers lost time behind Trulli's heavy Toyota in the early laps.

"The thing was Trulli was clearly on a long first stint, and me and Taku just got held up behind him. We had to re-do my strategy when we saw that. But that wasn't the sticking point of the race, the drive through was."
