Nico Rosberg says he doesn’t expect to mix it with the Ferraris and McLarens in Monaco qualifying, despite taking an excellent second place on Friday afternoon.

However the Williams driver hopes than he can sneak ahead of at least one of the BMWs and earn a top six position.

“I think the Ferrari and McLaren at least are going to be quicker than us,” said Rosberg. “That said I think we did really well today, and I’m happy that the car is going well here and I’m feeling very confident. So I think we can have a very good weekend.
It looks like it’s going well for Saturday. I found a very good rhythm today on the track, and I feel very comfortable.

“I’m also happy with the car, the balance. We did a lot of setup work today, and I didn’t finish with the best setup. But we really know where to go, I think we have a good direction.

“We still have some reserves up our sleeves, so will pull them out for Saturday, and I think we can do well. It’s not going to be a second place, but possibly we can beat a BMW. That will be a great thing already.”
