Mario Theissen says he was happy with BMW Sauber’s performance in Turkey, even though the team fell away from the Ferrari/McLaren battle.
Despite a loss of form Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld still managed to finish fourth and fifth, the latter rising from ninth on the grid.
“I think performance wasn’t bad,” Theissen told SPEEDtv.com. “We were not as strong as in the races before, but still OK. And I’m happy with the points, given the starting positions, certainly. I think it’s important to take points in races likes this, when
Most of the drop-off was due to BMW’s failure to get on top of the tire situation, which was complicated by the unexpectedly low temperatures: “Mainly, not purely, but mainly. I think we should be OK in the coming races.”
Theissen says he sees the next race in Monaco as a chance for the team to do something special.
“That’s what I hope. We have been quite strong in slow speed sectors, and that should be a good indication for god competitiveness in Monaco. I’m quite confident.”
