It was not a good Monday morning for Toro Rosso at Valencia.

The morning started out on a festive note as the team unveiled their 2010 machine.

From there however, it seemed to go down hill. Having cut its technological ties with Red Bull, the Faenza based team was stranded at the bottom of the time sheets, having completed just 10 laps with the new STR5.

Although based on last year's dominant Red Bull Technology machine, Sebastien Buemi was a massive six seconds off Felipe Massa's leading pace. The team was able to recover somewhat and by the end of the day was only two seconds off the pace.

"I am expecting mistakes and we are expecting mistakes," Toro Rosso technical director Giorgio Ascanelli told reporters in a press conference earlier.

"This explains why we are early (with the car) this time.

"I tried to push the car on the ground as soon as we could just to give us time to react to the issues and the problems as soon as we can," he added.

The team could take some consolation at days end. Robert Kubica in the new renault car was the slowest of the day and occupied the bottom spot on the speed chart, with Buemi was just ahead.
