Only a year and a half after becoming Ferrari’s CEO, and less than half a year from his stepping down as the head of the Scuderia’s “Gestione Sportiva” (competition division) Jean Todt has announced his resignation from the role.

In a statement attached to the release of the decisions of the company’s latest shareholders’ meeting, Todt revealed his desire to dedicate himself more to other interests, although he’ll remain linked to Ferrari as a member of the board, the team’s representative at the FIA World Council and in “special appointments” doled out by company president Luca di Montezemolo.

"My commitment to the President had been to manage the company until the end of
his mandate as President of Confindustria [Italy’s confederation of industries] and to indicate the new director of the Sports Management," said Todt. "Having accomplished these tasks, a new phase of my life has now begun in which I will have more time to dedicate to myself and my other interests.

"Naturally I will continue to make a contribution to Ferrari in my institutional positions and in those which the President has chosen to entrust me."

Ferrari’s statement thanked Todt for “the extraordinary human and professional contribution he has made over the last fifteen years of sporting success and great growth for the company of the Prancing Horse."

Italian Amedeo Felisa will succeed Todt in the CEO role.
