F1: Red Bull Duo Tops P1 In Hungary

After a so-so weekend in Germany by their standards, the Red Bulls have clearly brought their 'A' game to Hungary.

Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber, both easily overmatched by the Ferraris in Hockenheim, set the early pace at the Hungaroring Friday as Vettel (1:20:976) led opening practice with teammate Webber (1:21:106) nipping at his heels.

Filling out the top five were Robert Kubica, Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello.

Positions six through 10 in speed/time belonged to Pedro de la Rosa, Fernando Alonso, Nico Rosberg, Michael Schumacher and Nico Hulkenberg.

Felipe Massa and Lewis Hamilton, two drivers expected to contend in Hungary, clocked in only 12th and 18th quickest, respectively.

The session was run under mostly dry conditions after a few spots of rain earlier in the day.

The skies above the twisty Budapest track remain overcast, and the longer range radars are showing showers to the south of the city.

Local forecasters are predicting definite rain at the circuit at some point on Friday. Scattered rain is also likely on Saturday, ahead of a dryer outlook for Sunday's race.

Action will resume in Hungary with a second 90-minute practice at 8 a.m. ET Friday. The session will be televised live on SPEED and can be followed in real-time on SPEED.com.
