On Saturday at Silverstone, Webber was livid over a Red Bull team decision to remove the new wing on his RB6 for placement on teammate Sebastian Vettel's car.

By all acounts, it's been a rough couple weeks for the 33-year-old Australian.

A run the like the one Webber enjoyed in Sunday's British Grand Prix should quickly cure his woes.

Starting second alongside teammate Vettel, Webber overtook the German on the first lap when Vettel slid off course, and cruised from there to his third win of the season but first since the Monaco Grand Prix on May 16.

Vettel, after dropping all the way to last in the 24-car field with a punctured right-rear tire, staged a furious rally over the closing laps to finish seventh.

Native Brit Lewis Hamilton came home second, 1.3 seconds behind Webber, followed by Mercedes' Nico Rosberg.

Positions six through 10 belonged to Kamui Kobayashi, Vettel, Adrian Sutil, Michael Schumacher and Nico Hulkenberg.

Also suffering a tire puncture on the opening lap was Ferrari's Felipe Massa, who collided with teammate Fernando Alonso.

Massa finished 15th, one spot behind Alonso who was later hit with a drive-through penalty for cutting a corner as he passed Renault's Robert Kubica.

Webber had no such troubles, holding a commanding lead for most of the 52-lap race on the way to his fifth triumph in 148 Formula One starts and first victory at the 5.891 km Silverstone layout.

Hamiton remained the point leader, stretching his advantage to 12 markers over teammate Button.

Webber and Vettel swapped positions in the standings, with Webber (-17) moving up to third and Vettel (-24) falling to fourth.

Formula One has an off week before heading to Hockenheimring July 23-25 for the German Grand Prix.
