Nico Rosberg was in confident mood after practice in Monaco, even if that was not reflected in the times set by the Mercedes driver.

Rosberg was sixth in the rain affected dry session, in which few drivers set anything like a realistic time.

“It’s been a good start, I’m quite happy with the car,” said Rosberg. “I generally feel comfortable so it was quite a positive day. We’re going in the right direction, and we don’t have a mess with set-up or something. We’re quite comfortable, and even though we didn’t run much in the afternoon, it’s looking good.”

Rosberg admitted that the car could be well suited to low speed Monaco.

“In general it could be beneficial to us, the corner speeds. It depends also on how the cars work the tires. It remains to be seen whether we’re the car that can bring the tyres in the right operating window, or someone else. But I think we have a good chance.

“In the wet is obviously more difficult here, but it’s not a problem. It’s just the tires take some time to warm up, and that’s quite challenging.”
