Red Bull Racing, in a league of its own all weekend at the Hungaroring, continued its assault on the competition Sunday as Mark Webber sailed to a commanding win in the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Hockenheim winner Fernando Alonso held off a furious charge from Sebastian Vettel to finish second, nearly 18 seconds behind the Australian Webber.

With his fourth triumph of 2010, Webber moved from third to first in the World Championship standings as previous points leader Lewis Hamilton made an early exit with a drive shaft failure.

Webber now holds a four-point edge on Hamilton, who arrived in Hungary with a 14-point cushion over second place.

"Incredible day for the team," Webber said.

Felipe Massa and Vitaly Petrov completed the top five.

Nico Hulkenberg, Pedro de la Rosa, Jenson Button, Kamui Kobayashi and Rubens Barrichello rounded out the top 10.

Vettel, who started from the pole and led the opening laps, rallied from a drive-through penalty for lagging more than 10 car lengths behind Webber on an early restart.

The German was none too pleased with the penalty, gesturing from the cockpit as he came into the pits.

"I didn't understand what was going on and why I was penalized," Vettel said of his thoughts at the time. "Pretty unlucky I would say. Obviously very disappointed. It would have been a walk in the park today."

Starting second behind Vettel, Webber dropped a position to Alonso on the start but inherited the lead when the front two made early pit stops. Webber remained on track, opting not to pit for new tires until lap 44, and returned to the track still with a comfortable lead.

Incredibly, Webber actually turned some of his fastest laps of the day on the normally fragile supersoft Bridgestone tire, moments before switching to the harder tire in the pits.

"We were asking a lot of the option tires," Webber said. "The front left was completely finished ... but I knew once I got the primes on, the race was pretty much in the bag."

Alonso was impressed with how Webber's times didn't fall off as his tires wore.

"Mark was incredibly quick and the soft tire this weekend was not too soft," Alonso said.

Vettel moved to third in the standings, six points behind Hamilton, after leapfrogging defending World Champion Button.

"Those guys are taking a lot of points off me this weekend,” Hamilton said of the Red Bulls. “It’s unfortunate but we do everything we can to improve it, and I hope we can come back and fight for more wins."

Formula One has three weeks off before returning to action at the Belgian Grand Prix on Aug. 29.
