F1: “I’ve Got to Move Forward,” Hamilton Says

Lewis Hamilton was again the subject on an FIA driving penalty in Fuji after he was deemed to have driven Kimi Raikkonen off the road at the first corner after he’d got away from the line badly.

Hamilton was himself then punted into a spin by Felipe Massa, and that and the penalty combined to leave him well out of the points in 12th. His championship lead has now been cut from seven to five points.

“I think my personal disappointment would be the start, and then second would be the way I’m treated,” said Hamilton. “I got a bad start and I slipstreamed Kimi. I had an opportunity to go the inside so I went. Everyone brakes late. If you watch the replay, everyone went wide. I just went a bit wider than everyone else, and for some reason I got a penalty for that. I can’t honestly understand that. And then Felipe drove into me.”

Regarding his comment
on how he’s treated – by the FIA – he declined to elaborate on his thoughts about the penalty.

“It doesn’t really matter whether I don’t agree with it. I can’t change it. Now I just have to keep it together and go to the next race. It’s not over and we’ve still got two races to go.

“I’ve got to move forward, forget this one ever happened, and go to the next two races. I think we can win the next two races. That’s going to be the target.”
