The last obstacle has reportedly been overcome and an announcement to confirm Canada's return to the F1 calendar next year is imminent.

Recently Bernie Ecclestone said he wants to receive race fee payments from Montreal authorities along with a written guarantee from the Canada Revenue Agency that he will not pay federal tax.

During the Japanese Grand Prix on October 2nd, Ecclestone reportedly gave officials 10 days to comply or risk losing the date, which has been provisional so far.

"I'm no longer very confident,” Ecclestone said at the time. “We have waited to have all of the answers. We can't wait much longer."

After the popular and important North American date was missing from this year's world championship, it was believed that a commercial dispute had been solved and that arms of government had stepped in to ensure a Canadian race for 2010. But Ecclestone indicated while in Japan that no deal had not been signed due to the lack of the fee payments and tax guarantee.

The La Presse newspaper said in its Wednesday edition however that the tax guarantee has finally been forthcoming.

Montreal mayor Gerald Tremblay is now expected to announce within days that the popular Circuit Gilles Villeneuve will host formula one in mid June 2010.
