F1: Improved Brawn Car Headed To Nurburgring

Red Bull crushed the championship leaders at Silverstone, but a double-dose of car improvements has Brawn GP hopeful of fighting for the German Grand Prix crown.

Team owner and boss Ross Brawn has revealed that some new pieces are scheduled to be added to the BGP001 car at the Nurburgring.

Moreover, some improvements that had been taken to the British Grand Prix were not used at the decisive moments at Silverstone, after the Brackley based team struck a fundamental problem getting the tires up to temperature on the circuit.

"With the confusion over the tires, we didn't run some new pieces we had because Friday (at Silverstone) was very difficult with the tire temperature," Brawn is quoted as saying
by the Telegraph.

"We couldn't determine how the new bits were working, so we decided to avoid confusion and went back to what we had in Turkey.

"So we've got those bits and we have some new improvements for the Nurburgring," the Briton added.

Having won six of the opening seven races of 2009, Jenson Button's points lead was reduced to 23 points in Britain, while Sebastian Vettel dominated and won from pole at the wheel of a new-look Red Bull.
