Under pressure after disappointing outings in the past two races, BMW’s Nick Heidfeld topped the charts on the second day of Formula 1 testing at the Monza circuit in Italy.
The German set a best time of 1:22.621, finishing ahead of the Williams of countryman Nico Rosberg, the German completing 100 laps. McLaren's Heikki Kovalainen was third.
Toro Rosso’s Sebastian Vettel continued his string of strong outings in fourth, one spot ahead of Felipe Massa’s Ferrari. STR was, along with Honda, the only team to alternate drivers today.
Testing continues tomorrow, and the next race is the Belgian GP next
week.
