Practice 2 Times: German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring

Reigning World Champion Lewis Hamilton set the fastest practice time in his McLaren Friday in the second of two practice sessions for Sundays German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring.

Hamilton turned in a time of 1:32.149 beating Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel by 0.182 seconds. Championship point’s leader Jenson Button was third with Mark Webber in fourth. Jarno Trulli rounded out the top five.

Despite threatening skies only light rain appeared sporadically during the sessions, the first of which was paced by Webber with a time of 1:33.082.

Half way through the second session Hamilton was on track when a light mist began to fall. Hamilton spun in the second corner but recovered to turn the fastest lap next time around.

Trulli also had a spin during the second session but was also able to recover and post fifth fastest. Vettel suffered an electrical problem and was forced in for repairs midway through the first session but the Red Bull driver was able to return late and complete the session putting down the 8th fastest lap and came back to finish second in session number two with a time of 1:32.331.

Also in the second session Force India’s Giancarlo Fisichella spun and hit the barriers damaging his Mercedes.

The field will be back on track Saturday morning for one final practice session then qualifying.

The German Grand Prix can be seen on FOX this Sunday at 3:00 pm Eastern.
