Lewis Hamilton one upped his teammate as he led the second practice session in China Friday with a time of 1:35.217.

McLaren teammate Jenson Button who paced the morning practice was third in the second session.

The top four runners were all Mercedes powered as Nico Rosberg who was Hamilton's only real rival during the 90 minutes was second and Michael Schumacher again fighting understeer in the W01, was behind Button in fourth with Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel rounding out the top five.

Mark Webber in the second Red Bull was sixth with Adrian Sutil seventh and Jamie Alguersuari eighth.

Robert Kubica was ninth and Fernando Alonso who had the engine on his F10 let go in the first session was able to return and put down 32 laps and finish the time charts in 10th. His teammate Felipe Massa was right behind in 11th.

The second session lacked the drama of the first as only Vitaly Petrov spun off and Heikki Kovalainen in a Lotus was forced to stop when his engine shut down with less than five minutes to go.

Sebastian Buemi whose Toro Rosso STR5 suffered a catastrophic front end failure in the morning session never left the garage as the crew worked to repair the front supports that had failed.
