Red Bull Planning 2012 Seat For Buemi?: Sebastien Buemi is on course for a seat with Red Bull in 2012, according to the Swiss newspaper Blick. The head of the energy drinks company's driver programme, Helmut Marko, was quoted last weekend suggesting that if the 21-year-old youngster does not up his game, he could lose his seat with the junior team Toro Rosso. But Buemi then had an impressive weekend in Montreal, finishing in the points, overtaking Michael Schumacher and even leading a lap of the race. Blick reports that the "plan" at Red Bull's Salzburg headquarters is to field Buemi alongside Sebastian Vettel in 2012. After Montreal, Marko said: "That is the Buemi that we want to see. Aggressive, controlled and super-fast, even with a broken exhaust." And Buemi's Toro Rosso boss Franz Tost added: "Buemi has his best times still ahead of him. He knows that with us he is in good hands, with no unnecessary pressure."

Horner Pushes For 'Attractive' Pirelli Deal: If Christian Horner was in charge of selecting F1's new tire supplier for 2011, he would sign up Pirelli. It is believed the Italian company is on the verge of a deal to replace the departing Bridgestone, but some powerful elements are pushing to keep Michelin's rival proposal on the table. Pirelli is understood to have inked contracts with F1's commercial rights holder some days ago, and the company's competition director Paul Hembery was in Montreal last weekend for meetings with the teams association FOTA. The final hurdle could be the consent of the FIA, as Red Bull team boss Horner is quoted as saying: "Hopefully it can be a collective consensus of opinion. I think the Pirelli deal that seems to be on the table looks to be commercially and practically very attractive and that seems to be the consensus of the majority of teams," the Briton is quoted by Sapa-AFP news agencies.

Belief And Support Pay Off For Liuzzi - Boss: Vitantonio Liuzzi proved in Canada he still deserves a place on the Formula One grid, his team boss Vijay Mallya insists. Heading into the Montreal round, speculation was rife that Force India was considering replacing the underperforming Italian with the team's rookie reserve driver Paul di Resta. But Liuzzi, 28, travelled to Canada with a new VJM03 chassis and not only outqualified his teammate Adrian Sutil but put in the team's best qualifying performance of the season. Starting from fifth on the grid, however, he was hit several times by Felipe Massa and needed to pit for repairs, but still finished in the points. "I am so happy to see Tonio back to his best again," Mallya, not in Canada last weekend while he re-launched his career in Indian politics, said. "We believed in him and wanted to give him the support he needed to realize the potential we knew was in there."

F1 Still 'Option No. 1' For Grosjean: Even in the wake of his impressive performance at Le Mans, Romain Grosjean insists he is still focused on returning to Formula One. The French-Swiss driver's Ford GT dominated the GT1 class in the famous 24 hour race last weekend until it retired with engine failure. But 24-year-old Grosjean, who raced in ousted Nelson Piquet's place last year until Renault replaced him for 2010 with Vitaly Petrov, said returning to Le Mans in 2011 is not "option number one. ... For the moment, Formula One remains option number one," he is quoted by France's Auto Hebdo.
