Force India was ordered by a British court on Friday to pay legal costs of 650,000 pounds ($1 million) to rival Formula One team Caterham after a dispute about intellectual property.
Force India had been told in March to pay a similar amount to former wind tunnel partner Aerolab as part of the same case, taking the total owed by the British team to nearly $2.2 million.
Force India brought claims of a conspiracy to misuse the team's confidential information against Aerolab and Mike Gascoyne, chief technical officer of Caterham. However, a judge ruled Force India came "nowhere near establishing that."
The High Court in London ruled that Force India has to pay the legal costs within 14 days.
Force India said in a statement later Friday that its appeal relating to the €25,000 of damages that Aerolab was ordered to pay for passing on some of Force India's aerodynamic designs to Caterham — then known as Lotus — was postponed. A further hearing is expected in the coming weeks.
