Felipe Massa has made it clear that he wants to win his home race in Brazil, assuming that Ferrari teammate Fernando Alonso can win the title by finishing behind him.

Massa always runs well at Interlagos, winning the event in 2006 and 2008, although he famously lost the title to Lewis Hamilton in the latter year.

“Well, first of all, I’ll try to win a third time,” said Massa. “That’s always the right direction to think about racing – always thinking about victory. Here is a very special place for me, and I’m going to try to win, and hopefully Fernando can finish
second without any problems to win the championship.”

Regarding his season, Massa said: “I think it was a very difficult season until August. So, struggling — in some of the races I was not struggling, but I could not put together the result. Something always happened in the race so that I couldn’t finish in the right position.

“I would say after August everything was better and we were able to put together almost the right result at every race. It was a very good second part of the season and very good preparation for next year.”
