A day after his rival in the running for FIA president released his platform and named his wingmen, Jean Todt talked about his reasons for running for the seat along with his goals if elected.
The former Ferrari boss talked about his campaign on Formula One’s official website, starting with the answer to the most obvious question, why?
“Throughout my career, as a competitor, manager, team principal and chief executive I have enjoyed success in an intensely competitive environment.” Todt said. “I’ve worked with incredibly talented and dedicated people, teams and organizations with great passion, pride and commitment. Now working closely with my candidacy team, I want to bring all the experience I have gained throughout my career and apply it for the benefit of the FIA and its membership.”
“I have been very fortunate in my career to have enjoyed considerable success in motor sport,” he added. “Like so many others in our sport I have benefited from the hard work of previous leaders of the FIA in creating a global platform on which to compete. I feel that for me the time is now right to give something back to the sport and the FIA’s clubs that have given me so much.”
Thursday Todt’s rival Ari Vatanen, picked Fernando Falco y Fernandez de Cordova for President of the FIA Senate, Bernard Tay, Deputy President for Mobility, and Hermann Tomczyk will become Deputy President for Motorsport. Todt, who had previously announced his cabinet, said he and his as his running mates have already been hard at work.
