Montreal has been given a place on the 2010 F1 World Championship calendar after the schedule was approved by the World Motor Sport Council Monday.

However the race remains provisional pending negotiations with Bernie Ecclestone. The race has been given the date of June 16, one week later than the date suggested in earlier unofficial versions of the calendar.

Also new to the schedule is a race in South Korea. This means the year will finish with an even busier run of ‘flyaway’ races than this year, with the new event slipped in between Japan and Abu Dhabi. Brazil has regained its place as the last race of the season.

As had been predicted the season starts in Bahrain, as was the case in 2006, rather than in Melbourne.

The European GP in Valencia has been moved two months from the end of August to end of June.
