Jamie Alguersuari hopes his new appointment as Red Bull's F1 reserve driver leads to a full-time Toro Rosso race seat in 2010.

Red Bull announced on Wednesday that the young Spaniard will replace fellow teenager Brendon Hartley as the energy drink-owned teams' reserve driver for the remaining grands prix of 2009.

"My main objective for 2010 is to race with Toro Rosso," the reigning British F3 champion said in an interview with Spain's Diario AS newspaper.

Alguersuari currently races in the World Series by Renault, a championship run by his eponymous father.

"I am not in a hurry," he insisted, "but I want to be on the World Series podium soon and the next season could
be the right moment for F1."

Alguersuari dismisses suggestions that he has been put on a fast-track to formula one due to the status and influence of his father.

"I am used to those suggestions because it's not possible to satisfy everybody, but the one who has to drive the car is me.

"My father has been very important in my life, but it is not possible to deceive Red Bull or anyone else who has supported me," he insisted.
