Jeremy Mayfield, who was indefinitely suspended from NASCAR after failing a drug test in May 2009, was indicted by a grand jury in Iredell County, North Carolina on Wednesday for several larcenies dating back to late 2010.
Mayfield is charged with five counts of felonious breaking and entering of tractor trailers and one count of subsequent felonious larceny.
The former Sprint Cup Series driver is also charged with two counts of felonious breaking, entering, and felonious larceny from a building, according to a media release issued Wednesday by the Mooresville (N.C.) Police Department.
The police document said several breaking and entering cases and subsequent larcenies occurring in 2010 in Mooresville were investigated.
Mayfield already faces nine felony counts in other North Carolina counties.
A federal appeals court last month refused to reinstate Mayfield's lawsuit against NASCAR over his 2009 suspension for failing a random drug test at Richmond International Raceway.
A three-judge panel of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled a federal judge did not abuse his discretion in dismissing Mayfield's complaint against NASCAR, NASCAR chairman Brian France and a drug testing company.
Mayfield’s only remaining step to keep the lawsuit going would be an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
