Game On.

The Hagerty Fantasy Bid Game on SPEED starts today, with 28 fantasy bid cars scheduled to go across the auction block between today and Sunday. And on Sunday, one lucky game player will be chosen at random to win an utterly incredible, 800-horsepower, custom black-on-black 2013 Shelby GT500, specially modified by the automotive design firm Ice Nine Group.

Last year, Chris Cherryholmes of Tucson, Ariz., was selected from among 1,591,940 Hagerty Fantasy Bid entrants as the winner of a custom 2012 Shelby GT500. Read about his high-powered experience at: 2012 Fantasy Bid Winner.

This year’s car is even more over-the-top, according to Ice Nine Group owner Keith Strong, as no stone was left unturned in building this car.

“The whole idea of it was to give it that very sinister, very kind-of angry look to it,” said Strong. “Last year’s car was really cool, bright red. We wanted to do something a little bit different for this year’s winner, something that displays that power and is really angry-looking.”

And there’s no mistaking the Hagerty connection on this car, either.

“This one, we needed to something that was 1 of 1, something that was very special for Hagerty and for SPEED and for Barrett-Jackson,” said Strong. “We wanted to make sure that whoever sees the car, years down the road, knows exactly what this is and doesn’t mistake it for another black GT500.”

To that end, there are plenty of custom touches, including a gas cap with the Hagerty name laser-etched into it, and a variety of design touches inside and out on the black-on-black Shelby make it truly memorable to look at.

And the 800+ horsepower make it truly remarkable to drive.

“If the Mayans were right and Armageddon was going to happen, it would sound just like this car,” says Strong of the sinister jet-black creation, which his team built in just two weeks. “The power and the sound are amazing.”
