COOPER: Austin An Interesting Choice For US GP
Compelling storylines abound as Formula One prepares for the Turkish Grand Prix...

If Webber does stay on at RBR, it would seem to leave Kimi Raikkonen in no-man’s land. I had a long chat with him in Monaco, and he made it pretty clear that he’s keeping his options open and that he has yet to decide on whether to return to F1.

If the obvious Red Bull door closes, where would he go? Renault might appeal if Kubica leaves, but would the team want him? We know he’s not going to be the team-building, motivating-force that an Alonso or Kubica can be. As I said, this is a fickle world, and people are forgotten very quickly – not so long ago he was the man everybody wanted.

Clear evidence that there could be changes afoot at Ferrari is the fact that Felipe Massa and his manager Nicolas Todt have indicated that they are looking around, so it seems that the Brazilian could well be making way for Kubica. Massa then becomes another interesting candidate for Red Bull (don’t forget the boss knows him well from his Sauber days), or even Renault.

It’s strange to be talking about this sort of thing when we’re only in May, and there are still 13 races to go. But that’s F1 for you...
